Field-Bennett Sunriver Family Vacation

A couple of years ago, my family started a tradition of renting a house every summer and vacationing together for a few days.  Now that all of us "kids" are older (and starting to have our own kids) and with our family spread out across the state, it's nice to set aside some time every summer to get together and relax. The first year we went to Bend and last summer, we all met up in Gold Beach on the southern Oregon coast.  While we did have fun on last year's trip, we all missed Bend.  We just love Central Oregon way too much (honestly, I have lost track of the number of times we have visited the area since we moved here 4 years ago--and we NEVER tire of it!).  That said, we decided to try something just a teensy bit different this year and head a few miles south to Sunriver.  We also extended the invite to Jake's parents to join in on the Field family vacation fun!

So with that, 9 adults, 1 baby, and 3 chihuahuas all bunked up for the week in 1 house (I'm being dramatic; the house was huge).  We had a fantastic time!  Aside from the fact that my angelic child who normally sleeps like a champ sleeps absolutely TERRIBLY when she is not in a familiar space.  Ugh.  A vacation without much sleep is not quite as relaxing and restful as one would like.  Nonetheless, we really enjoyed ourselves and spent our time taking long walks, hiking at Lava Lands and Benham Falls, shopping in Bend, swimming at the community water park and floating the Deschutes River.  With all of these lovely family members on hand, Jake and I were even able to sneak out for a date night :).

Till next time, Sunriver!
