6 Months with Lyla

My baby girl is already half a year old!  Oh my word.  Someone please slow down time.

Our little sweet pea is 27 1/4 inches long (92nd percentile) and 15 pounds, 11 ounces (40th percentile).  She only gained one pound between her 4 month and her 6 month well baby check-ups (to put that in perspective, she gained three pounds each between birth and 2 months and between 2 and 4 months).  You know why she only gained one pound?!  Because our crazy baby will. not. hold. still.

As I shared in my last update, Lyla started crawling and sitting up just shy of 5 months.  Logically, this is no longer enough for our busy bee.  She now pulls herself up on just about every piece of furniture we own and TRIES TO CLIMB UP.  She is actively trying to stand without assistance; she pulls herself up on something, steadies herself and then let's go.  Sigh.  Needless to say, we had to drop down the crib mattress and take out the bumpers (she was trying to use those to climb out).

Lyla also has a couple of teeth poking through those bottom gums! Don't let my exclamation point there fool you.  Cutting teeth is for the birds.  It saddens me deeply that we have only just begun this lengthy process.  Who needs teeth?  Blah.  On a more positive note, introducing solids has gone infinitely better than introducing bottles did (or didn't).  We just started a week or two ago, so she has only tried a few things.  Orange veggies (carrots, pumpkin) have been a big hit.  Avocados and applesauce, not so much.  I plan to introduce green veggies, ground beef, and more fruit in the next few weeks.

We celebrated Lyla's first Thanksgiving this past month!  We had family and dear friends in town for the holiday and our girl is quite the social one.  She thought sleep was overrated (Jake and I did not).  Christmas is right around the corner, and we can't wait!  As you'll see below, Lyla had her first meeting with Santa Claus--it went well!  She was pretty intrigued by the big guy, but fortunately, not scared.

Here are some photos of our little lovebug from the past month:
